~~~~~
Friends, it’s December 1st and I haven’t done a Favorites post in forever! Time to share a few things I’ve been crushing on lately (trust me when I say that I had to sit on my hands not to write about my favorite deodorant; thought it might get me booed off the stage; wait, you want me to gift someone deo?).
Whether you celebrate Christmas, birthdays or just want to try a little something for yourself, I hope you find inspiration here. I’ve chosen just a handful of faves (most under $20) — and Abeego is here today to offer you a fantastic Giveweaway — so stay tuned till the end!
Here We Go —
Snowflake Ornaments
My talented friend Sandra Kehoe, who’s website is a work of art in its own right, is a basket weaver and willow artist. She uses bits and pieces of recycled willow to create one of a kind ornaments by hand; just like true snowflakes, each ornament is slightly different from the next and takes about an hour to make. Presented in a beautiful box ready for gifting – we couldn’t be happier with ours! (📷 Sandra Kehoe).
Bamboo Straws
I’ve been loving my Bali Boo bamboo straws! I bought the set below which comes with 12 straws, two cleaners and the cutest cloth carrying case! So cleverly conceived — I keep the carrying case in my bag — lightweight and perfect for smoothie stops. Kudos to Bali Boo for being selected by the United Nations as a case-study example of a smart, innovative and fair-trade solution to replace single-use plastic items (📷 Bali Boo).
Reusable Canvas Bags
This handsome zero waste lunch bag made by Peg and Awl is one of a collection of seven useful canvas bags built from abandoned materials and intended to replace everyday disposable paper goods. Discover their snack bags, bread bags, wine bags and more (📷 Peg and Awl).
Wool Dryer Balls
It took me a while to switch over to wool dryer balls but I’m glad I did; these fuzz balls from Simple Natural Products do the trick – no static cling, no stiff clothes – and no harsh chemicals. Better for everyone’s skin and the environment (📷 Simple Natural Products).
Natural Lip Butters
Ellovi reached out to me shortly after we moved to California and it didn’t take long before I fell in love with their all natural 6 ingredient lip and body butters. No hidden ingredients, no shenanigans, just plant-based, soothing butters made in small batches in Berkeley, CA (they smell delish too!). I keep a lip butter in my purse and another one by my bed (you never know when you might need to wet your whistle!). They’ve recently come out with a new look & fragrance line (📷 Ellovi).
Beeswax Food Wraps + A Giveaway!
These versatile and reusable beeswax food storage wraps made by Abeego are the brainchild of award-winning entrepreneur, Toni Desrosiers. The breathable nature of beeswax helps keep food alive longer while reducing the need for plastic cling wrap. I especially like the wraps for storing things like half an onion, avocado or lemon (which seem to accumulate with great frequency in my fridge) — they come in different sizes, grip food really well and also reduce smell in the fridge (hello onion!). They’re super easy to clean (I mostly just rinse) and reuse (📷 Abeego).
GIVEAWAY:
I would love for you to try these wraps in your own kitchen! Abeego is generously offering 3 Inspired Edibles readers a variety pack of 3 different size wraps! Details: Simply leave a comment below mentioning your interest in Abeego wraps. Who Can Enter: The giveaway is open to Canadian and US residents who are email subscribers of Inspired Edibles (if you’re not subscribed just yet, you can do so) 3 names will be drawn at random on December 12th and winners will be contacted privately by email — good luck (or, as we say around here, break a toe!).
Last But Not Least
Not sure this one falls under the category of eco-friendly, sustainable or practical (and it’s not likely to fit into anyone’s stocking either) but, it sure brings me a lot of joy. Any other A Christmas Story fans out there? My husband and I spotted this beauty the other night on the town (thank you Red Rock Cafe✌️).
I just adore the wool dryer balls. I’ve been giving them away as gifts. Even my skeptic husband was just mentioning that he really likes them (in fact, was lamenting that I didn’t bring them on vacation with me!) the bees wax cloths are awesome too. I only have three and could sure use more of them!
suzanne says
what an amazing round up of gift ideas. i especially love the bamboo straws. when we visited bali i loved eating a meal off a plate or out of a bowl made with a banana leaf.
i’ve attempted to make my own beeswax wraps and they’re okay but not nearly as good as the ones Abeego makes. just the right amount of softness.
happy holidays kelly.
suzanne says
and those star ornaments are precious!
kelly says
Agreed! Sandra’s talent is stunning
kelly says
the banana leaf service sounds dreamy — Abeego’s wraps are the best I’ve tried (and on a personal note, I couldn’t be happier for Toni who’s hard work and vision are paying off; she also happens to be a great person).
SallyBR says
Well, I am back.. of course I would be delighted to get some of those clever Abeego wraps to try
and the dryer balls, perked my interest too, I normally don’t put anything in the dryer, I don’t care for the feel that softeners leave on clothes, but these seem interesting
Great post!
kelly says
I think you’d love the wraps Sally! Bonne chance :)
SallyBR says
I am leaving this comment before finishing reading your post. Why? because I stopped, paralyzed with anticipation, yes yes yes talk deodorant to me, that is a very important issue and one I haven’t quite solved in my life
Ok, I will move on and read the rest…
