🌿 Black Bean & Sweet Potato Chili with Avocado Cream
A crave-worthy & hearty chili with a good depth of flavour and just the right amount of heat to keep you interested without the overkill. And it all happens in the slow-cooker! The quinoa cooks alongside the other ingredients (no additional pot necessary) adding some nice bulk and nourishment to this plant-based stew. Find the recipe here.
🌿 Roasted Garlic & Creamy Potato Soup with Seared Mushrooms
Do you remember the Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup days with those irresistible bits of chewy mushroom and clumpy bites of salted cream… well Andy W and I sure do… this modernized version of mushroom soup recalls that traditional comfort while adding some whole food refinements; it’s a reader favourite creamy-delicious béchamel potato soup infused with roasted garlic and earthy seared mushroom. Find the recipe here.
🌿 French Lentil Soup with Fire-Roasted Tomatoes
A vibrant French lentil soup featuring sweet fire-roasted tomatoes, smoked paprika and tender root vegetables inspired by and adapted from The First Mess Cookbook — a gorgeous celebration of plant-based foods by Laura Wright. Find the recipe here.
🌿 Sweet & Savory Braised Butternut Squash with Yogurt Sauce (Kadoo Boranee)
This may be my favourite culinary discovery of the past decade; not surprisingly, it is reputed to be America’s favorite Afghan dish, featuring soft butternut squash braised in warm gingered spices and served with a garlic yogurt sauce. Find the recipe here.
🌿 Cozy Eggplant Lasagna
It’s hard to beat the comfort of a good lasagna on a cold day; this one continues to generate fun feedback and photos. Find the recipe here.
🌿 Orange-Ginger Tofu
Crispy oven-baked tofu finished in a scrumptious orange ginger glaze; a little Szechuan-style cuisine in the comfort of home. Find the recipe here.
🌿 Weeknight Chana Masala
One of our favourite weeknight (aka: low-fuss, high-return) meals ~ in your words:
I made this amazing Chana Masala last night for the family with some basmati rice. I doubled the Chana recipe, but halved the hot pepper and it was just perfect for the kids. Didn’t have cilantro, so will have to try that next time. So delicious and we have leftovers for tonight! Find the recipe here.
🌿 Cauliflower Pizza With Caramelized Onion & Pear
A date night favourite, this autumn inspired caramelized pizza with a homemade cauliflower crust has some serious yum factor. Find the recipe here.
🌿 Smoky Peruvian Beans
One of the most visited recipes on the blog ~ in your words:
“I made this tonight with mayocoba beans and it was DELICIOUS. I scraped most of the seeds out of the chipotles, and the spice level was perfect for us—really warming for a cold night. The yogurt, cilantro and limes knocked it out of the park. This is definitely going to enter my rotation of recipes. Thank you so much for sharing!”
“this recipe is 100% fantastic!!! Loved it so much – making it again this weekend! I just served the beans topped with diced avocado – and it was like a big, warm hug!”
“I LOVE THIS RECIPE!!!
I am a huge fan of rice an beans from various countries, but finding tasty and trusted recipes isn’t easy. THIS IS GREAT!!”

🌿 Homemade Apple Tea

🌿 Cough & Throat Soothing Tea

🌿 Cinnamon Crunch Oatmeal Apple Muffins
🌿 Cinnamon Spice Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies
Hearty and satisfying, these cookies pack a nutrient-dense punch and (I’m told by my sister from another mister) are quite addictive. Find the recipe here.
🌿 Baked Oatmeal with Apple & Plum
This apple-plum baked oatmeal can be enjoyed warm or cold on a hot summer’s morning (hello Aussie friends) ~ the oatmeal and fruit are enhanced with nuts and infused with cinnamon spice and delicate sweet-tart flavour notes.
in your words:
“I was concerned that this might have too much moisture with the applesauce, but it baked up beautifully. My plums are a little on the tart side, so this is not overly sweet, which I enjoy. Different and delicious, thank you!”
“Made it with a topping of pecans, ate it under the stars last night with some coconut cream, highly recommend! Today, we try it cold. With hot coffee. Thank you, this is so good.”
Get the recipe here.
🌿 Flourless Pumpkin Muffins
A grain free muffin with some goood rise ~ moist and melty, these pumpkin bites are delicately sweetened and enlivened with warm autumn spices.
in your words:
I have made these four times!! They are sweet but not too sweet. I just love the combination of chocolate and almond butter! It’s a treat I don’t feel bad about eating 😊 They freeze well too!

You have some of the best vegetarian recipes! I never hesitate with your recipes. I’ve made several and they have never failed me. Just put those oatmeal breakfast cookies on the list to make this week. Those look so good and I’m always looking for new breakfast ideas (like your raspberry oatmeal pancakes – YUM!). Have made the orange ginger tofu many times, but I see more mains of yours that I need to try. Last week I once again made that scrumptious coconut lime soup of yours. It’s a regular for us during soup season. Your garlic and creamy potato soup sounds awesome. It’s next as well. :) Thanks for this list Kelly!

Hello Kelly = Althi’ I have been wandering around the foodie world for almost a decade I do not have my own blog because of time constraints. Am a cuckoo in the nest, so to speak. Dozer is the very famous helpmate of Nagi Maehashi of ‘recupetineats’, probably the best known Australian food blog from the Northern Beaches area of Sydney . . . Stella should go say hello . . .
